About the author: Angus Martin was born in Campbeltown in 1952 and became a herring fisherman at the age of 15. He began writing poetry in his early teens, and has had 36 books published, including 10 of his poetry. 'The Larch Plantation', his first poetry collection, received a Scottish Arts Council Spring Award in 1991.
